Mallika Bhatia is a Psychologist and Holistic Healer based in Munich, Germany. Articulate and a strong communicator, Mallika’s philosophy is simple though paradoxical: “My goal in all my therapies is to be redundant in the lives of my clients.” She freely admits that her aim with each of her clients is to reach to a point where they no longer need her services.

It is this strong commitment to values and ethics that have seen Mallika strongly establish herself in her chosen profession. “There is nothing else that I would rather have chosen for work,” she says. “I realized early on in life, when I was still in school, that I liked observing people and understanding their behavior. I didn’t know that it was psychology but I knew instinctively that I wanted to pursue this for a career.”

Pursue it she did. After school, she did her Bachelor’s in Clinical Psychology at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi and later her Master’s in the same subject from the same university. She spent another year for a Post-graduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology at Jamia Millia Islamia. Also, she earned a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy from the California Hypnosis Institute of India. She went on to educating herself in various other fields of Holistic healing like Pranic Healing, Reiki, Theta Healing, Tarot card reading and other associated sciences.

Mallika was a gold medalist during her years of studying psychology. During these learning years, she worked as a volunteer with many NGOs, such as Udaan, Katha Khazana and Sudinalaya. “I have always believed that healing and psychology can make a significant contribution to community well-being,” she says.

As part of her master’s degree, she spent a year at New Delhi’s prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences doing Psychiatry ward counseling. Later, she was also a Trainee Psychologist at the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in New Delhi. She has been a Consultant Psychologist at Rockland and Aashlok hospitals in the capital for short durations.

Mallika has set up a private practice in Healing and Counseling Psychology and meets clients on appointments. “Every client is helping me grow and it is a constant quest for learning from other people’s experiences,” she says. “I am a great believer that people have the solutions in their own minds. They might not sometimes connect with it for various reasons and my job is to try and help them get in touch with their own solutions.” Healing and Psychotherapy, she says, is a great tool for personal growth.
